Dropshipping on Shopify? – Never

If you are planning to start your dropshipping store and if you are planning to use the shopify as a platform for that store, then you should read this first.

Recently I have started the dropshipping store on shopify, I have even received few orders within 1 week of time thanks to my knowledge about facebook ads and also with the help of facebook ads experts.

I have even delivered the majority of the orders and products have reached the respected customers without any issues.

After around 1 month since my store started, for some reason shopify has deactivated my store and asked me to provide a few documents if I want to continue operating my store.

Below is a screenshot of the details requested by shopify legal team.

From the screenshot we can see that the shopify legal team has asked for proof of inventory, shipping information, social media links etc. details from me. I have provided details for shipping information, social media links and also legal information like my tax identification number(PAN no.) etc.

Now the nature of my store was dropshipping so it is obvious that I do not have inventory for the products on my store. And this is how dropshipping works.

Contradictorily if you will search for “dropshipping” in google, it is shopify’s website which is coming as the first result which provides details about the dropshipping and also details about how to start the dropshipping with shopify.

But the reality is different, shopify may deactivate your account any time if you are doing dropshipping. I stronlgly believe that thing might be different if you are using shopify’s own dropshipping module oberlo. ( Yes, I know it is strage but it is true that shopify have their own dropshipping module called oberlo, and still they have deactivated my account for doing dropshipping using shopify 😀 )

Shopify legal team has informed me that my store got deactivated because of the violation of acceptable use policy, I have gone through the whole policy and I do not found anything which was violated on my store. I have only listed the products which were available for reselling.

I have received below response from shopify legal team for my account, and they have not provided the eaxct reason citing the security and privacy reasons.

Conclusion

So based on my above experience I will not suggest to start the dropshipping store with shopify unless you are planning to use the oberlo. However I am not sure if they will not deactivate your store even if you are using oberlo. It is my big NO NO to dropshipping with shopify.
